What to do in Buying Used Chevy Trucks

from:

Chevy trucks are exceptional for use in long distance travels and hauling as well as in off road adventures. The strong and muscular body of a Chevy truck is one proof that it can withstand whatever work or place it may be put into.

There are many models of trucks that are made by Chevrolet. You may begin by choosing which Chevy truck you want to buy. Consider the year the truck was made. A newer model is better than the older ones.

Think about the history of the Chevy truck. Knowing it is very important especially in determining how much the truck would cost. In addition, know also the owners history with the truck by asking them how they maintain their Chevy truck.

Make sure that you can inspect the truck before you buy it. Have a preliminary inspection on the truck and ask for the owner of the truck to allow you to have a test drive. Here are tips on how to inspect your chosen used Chevy truck:

1) Take note of the exterior of the truck. Newly painted trucks may have hidden rusted panels underneath it. Be sure to ask the owners when the truck was painted and how much. The price of the painting job and body repair to be done matters a lot in determining the quality of works done into the truck.

2) Inspect the bumpers and the wheels. Look for signs of rusts, body filler and dents. This is one of the factors that devalue a truck and lower its price drastically. Search for rust all over the exterior of the truck including those portions that are hidden.

3) Search for signs of past wrecks. Dents and other irregularities in the trucks’ bumper, hood, grill, and so on, these are indications that the truck may have been in an accident. This would mean expense for future repair in your part.

4) Examine also the interior of the truck. Make sure that there are no tears in the seats, dash board and other plastic made parts.

5) Inspect the engine. Look for leaks and other inconsistencies. Not to mention the rust that you may see from the engine. All in all, rate the overall cleanliness of the engine. It is a determinant if the engine is well maintained by the owner.

6) The engine must not be worn out. You can know this by means of checking the oil for rough particles that have mixed with it. You can do this through lifting up the dipstick and rubbing your fingers on it.

7) Try to start the engine. It must not have any problems in starting.

8) During a test drive, check the power of the brakes. The truck must not slip off the track nor shudder when you brake.

9) Check the transmission gears. Grinding sounds are signs of worn out gears.

10) Test whether other accessories are still functioning well. The lights, wipers, signals and other accessories must be in good condition.

11) Ask the owner to show you the past documents of the truck including the maintenance records. Make sure that the owner never neglects to take the truck for visits to a mechanic. Look for irregular check ups; it may be an indication that the owner is not as responsible as it seems on the truck.

Make sure that the price is not too high in buying a used Chevy truck. Remember that you are buying a used Chevy truck to save money and at the same time expect good quality.
