Italian Charm Bracelet Instructions for Beginners

from:

What is an Italian charm bracelet?

While many people may be familiar with the conventional “dangling” charm bracelets, many may not know what Italian charm bracelets are.

Chances are, you may have even seen one and yet you still do not know its name.

Italian charm bracelets are those stretchable, spring-loaded bracelets that look like thin watch bands with patterns and designs.

Ah, now you know what those bracelet thingies are called.

Each link can actually be a charm if you choose to make it so. Many stores nowadays are selling charms with different designs to help you with expressing your personality.

And we all know how maintaining an identity is very important today, right?

So, have you decided to buy or create your customized charm bracelet?

Here are Italian charm bracelet instructions to help you out.

Okay, the first step is to measure your wrist in order to find out how many charms you will be able to use.

You can make the fit as loose or as tight as you want, but the best fit would be a bracelet that fits just barely over your thumb (the widest part of your palm) when you stretch it out to put it on.

This fit is most comfortable, preventing the bracelet from slipping off your hand and at the same time, preventing your poor hand from getting pinched every time you put on the bracelet.

When you find a bracelet that fits you just right, count the number of links in the bracelet.

The number of links on the bracelet equals the number of charms you may put on it!

So now, you have to decide which charms do fit your personality.

Interests are common deciding factors in choosing charms. However, some interests may be too specific for the commonly generalized designs of charms.

You may also choose designs that declare a membership or support of a cause.

Another way is to choose designs that have a special meaning to you, but may appear ambiguous to others.

That way, you will have a secret to keep.

Charms also come in letters, so if you want to declare yourself loudly, just spell out your message!

For the kid inside you, charms also come in your favorite cartoon characters!

Who knows, in another year or two, you may even be able to put pictures in your bracelet.

Now that you have chosen the designs you want, choose a metal you want your bracelet to be composed of.

Italian charm bracelets are available in gold, silver, and stainless steel.

But hey, you may mix and match metals if you want.

Now comes the hard part: assembly.

Some beginners find this a bit complicated, especially if you have a slippery grip.

First, grip a charm tightly with your thumb and forefinger, with the design facing up to you.

Next, try to push the central design part out using your thumb. Push it out until you can see the tiny gap at the bottom of the design.

You may need someone’s help in order for you to hold the charm open.

Get another charm. In its left side, there is another gap. Insert the “hook” of the open charm to the gap on the second charm.

Let go of the first charm so that it closes. You now have your first link!

Continue this with all the other charms.

When you have all of the charms linked in a row, hook the last charm to the first, and you’ll have your own Italian charm bracelet!

If you have trouble linking charms, there are some specialized tools available to help you, or you may ask the store to assemble the bracelet for you.

Have fun!
